16.07.2025

Sony Electronics, a division of the technology giant with a market value of US$150 billion, made an exciting announcement on Wednesday. They revealed the launch of their cutting-edge ECM-778 shotgun microphone, perfect for professional film and documentary production. They also unveiled new high-capacity CFexpress Type A memory cards and a compatible card reader, marking a new era in media storage. Sony is doing incredibly well financially! According to data from InvestingPro, the company has a fantastic financial health score, which is a great reflection of its position as a major player in the consumer electronics industry.

The incredible ECM-778 is available for just US$1,199.99! It features a state-of-the-art microphone capsule and a precision-machined brass acoustic tube that delivers stunning high-resolution audio capture beyond 20 kHz. This incredible microphone is a real game-changer! At just 176 mm and a mere 102 g, it's incredibly versatile, fitting seamlessly into both boom pole and camera mounting setups.

"It strikes an exceptional balance with its length and weight, and its clarity and solid core deliver palpable sound pressure," enthused Kenichi Fujimoto, winner of the Japan Film Academy Award for Best Sound Recording, in a statement included in the press release.

Sony has also introduced two new CFexpress Type A memory cards - the CEA-G1920T (1920 GB) and CEA-G960T (960 GB) - along with the MRW-G3 card reader. These amazing cards support the CFexpress 4 standard and offer incredible read speeds of up to 1800 MB/s. Sony claims these are twice as fast as previous models – that's some feat!
